Print an image across A4 or Letter sheets at a real size

A poster needs both a page arrangement and a physical scale. Enter the intended finished width or height, then allow room for your printer's margins, overlap and any cut marks. More pixels or more sheets do not automatically mean more source detail.

Step by step

Choose an image, or select and confirm one page from a PDF.
Choose A4 or Letter and portrait or landscape paper. Set one finished dimension in millimeters.
Review margins, overlap, cut marks and labels. The preview shows every sheet.
Keep the separate 50 × 50 mm calibration sheet enabled for a scale check.
Create the PDF. Print at Actual size / 100%, not Fit to page. Measure the calibration square before assembling a large poster.

A repeatable two-tile example

The included 740 × 444 pixel image is set to 370 mm wide. It becomes 370 × 222 mm. With A4 portrait, 10 mm margins, 10 mm overlap and both cut marks and labels disabled, it uses two poster sheets plus the calibration sheet.

The nominal printable width is 190 mm. The second tile begins after 180 mm because 10 mm repeats for alignment. The final PDF was independently checked as three A4 pages. No physical print test is claimed.

Labels need real space

Cut marks reserve 4 mm around the image area; labels reserve a 5 mm footer. Both can change the sheet count. Enable them according to the assembly method you intend to use, then inspect the updated layout.

For PDF input, choose one actual page. It is rendered to bounded pixels before tiling, so vectors and searchable text are not retained. The two-page sample lets you verify that selecting page 2 really uses the green second page.

Scale is different from sharpness

The example is only 50.8 pixels per printed inch at 370 mm wide. That is an honest low-resolution warning, not an export failure. Enlarging it cannot create detail missing from the source.

Images are limited to 10 MiB and 20 megapixels. PDF input allows one selected page from a document up to 25 MiB and 100 pages. Output is bounded to 100 sheets including calibration. Printer drivers can still scale the PDF; verify their settings and your measured print.
