1 KB = 1,000 bytes. The byte target is checked after encoding; no file-size saving is promised. A smaller palette can change colours and a lower frame rate can remove short events. GIF timing is rounded cumulatively to 10 ms; players may clamp short or zero delays.

Video contains one pass with no sound. Transparent GIF pixels become the selected opaque background. The local profile must pass a real export/decode check.

Video background

No upscaling. Aspect ratio is preserved within whole-pixel rounding; video uses even pixel dimensions. Check the short preview after changing crop, colours or timing. Limits: GIF 10 MiB; video 50 MiB; 30 seconds; 1 MP input; 300 output frames; 80 million canvas pixels; 640 px output sides; 20 MiB output; 60 seconds per job.

Supported formats and licences

GIF87a/89a still and animated images with palettes, transparency and disposal 0–3; unsupported rendering extensions are rejected. Video input uses the existing local MP4/MOV/WebM demuxer and the browser's actual decoder, one video and at most one explicitly omitted audio track. HDR, extra tracks and shifted timelines are unsupported. Exports render in 8-bit sRGB; source metadata is not copied. GIF uses one-bit alpha and quantization without dithering, so photographs and gradients may lose quality.

How to use it

Choose a local GIF and an available video format.
Choose dimensions and a time interval. Video output contains one selected animation cycle without audio.
Try a short preview, then process the complete selection. Preview bytes do not predict the full export size.
Review the actual export and timing before download. An unmet byte target remains visible.

Trimming a two-second animation to one second changes its timeline. A smaller palette can save bytes but also lose colour detail.

Details & limits

GIF up to 10 MiB; video up to 50 MiB. Inputs up to 1 MP / 1,280 px per side / 30 seconds. Up to 300 frames and 80 million processed canvas pixels. Output up to 640 px per side / 20 MiB; bounded local worker.

Will every animation look and time exactly like the original?

No. Crop, resampling, palette changes and lossy video output deliberately change content. Frame delays and disposal are interpreted explicitly; zero-delay frames need a chosen minimum delay. Unsupported rendering variants are rejected.
