How to use it

  1. Choose or drop a PDF or load the synthetic document.
  2. Select a page and click a text area, or choose it from the keyboard-accessible text list. The list and overlays are paginated in groups of 80.
  3. Review the exact text, font ID, available resource names, embedded-stream evidence and transformed size/angle.
  4. Use the document font summary to inspect other pages and sizes.
  5. Create the JSON inspection report. Its actual UTF-8 bytes are reopened and parsed before download.

The synthetic PDF uses Helvetica, Times, Courier and a genuinely embedded Liberation Sans subset, including rotated Unicode text. Each selected text area must resolve to its own available font evidence; a scan must not invent a font.

Details & limits

Up to 25 MiB and 100 pages; the shared text/stream/worker limits apply. Original dictionary names, subset prefixes, internal PDF.js IDs and renderer fallback categories are separate evidence. Exact name matching can be ambiguous. Size is an approximate transformed em-height; color and exact face style are not verified. No font-file download, OCR or brand similarity guess. Embedded images: unfiltered/Flate pixels or checked JPEG, up to 8,192 px per side. Inline images, JPEG 2000, JBIG2, CCITT and unusual JPEG variants are unsupported.

Does an internal name or fallback category identify the original commercial font?

No. A technical ID is only an identifier. Exact available PDF dictionary names are shown separately, and shared or missing names remain uncertain. A subset prefix is a naming indication; the embedded-stream check does not authenticate the font's brand or license.
