How to use it

  1. Choose your PDF or load the synthetic dark and grey-page example.
  2. Select page numbers, scan or dark-slide mode, intensity and raster resolution.
  3. Protect photographs, diagram lines and important marks with precise rectangles. Generate and compare each selected page’s before/after view.
  4. Confirm every selected page at the final settings. Create a new PDF, reopen it automatically for render/geometry checks and download it.

The dark sample separates white text from its neutral background, keeps a colored panel and protects a fine diagram line. The second grey page illustrates weak writing that requires careful review.

Details & limits

PDF up to 10 MiB / 20 pages. Nonstandard page scales (UserUnit ≠ 1) are unsupported. Selected pages become 96/144 dpi images: 8 MP per page, 40 MP per export, 30 MiB output. Searchable text, vectors, links, forms and annotations are lost on transformed pages. Manual review is required; no toner-saving or physical-print claim. Embedded images: unfiltered/Flate pixels or checked JPEG, up to 8,192 px per side. Inline images, JPEG 2000, JBIG2, CCITT and unusual JPEG variants are unsupported.

Does this preserve all text and identify photographs automatically?

No. The selected pages are explicitly rasterized. Dark-slide mode uses existing text boxes and refuses pages with no extractable text. Color protection preserves strongly colored pixels, not complete photographic regions; protect photos, stamps and diagrams manually. Conservative scan mode preserves dark strokes but may weaken faint grey writing. Unselected page objects are copied; document-level behavior and signatures are not guaranteed.
