How to use it

  1. Choose a PDF and inspect its source pages and existing bookmark targets.
  2. Find larger-text heading candidates and add only reviewed entries, or create entries manually.
  3. Edit titles, levels and original PDF target pages. Printed labels, including Roman numbers, remain separate from actual positions.
  4. Keep supported internal bookmarks or explicitly replace them. Choose optional contents pages, then generate and download the verified PDF.

A synthetic twelve-page document includes chapter headings, smaller headings, body text and an existing bookmark. Its printed label iv differs from PDF page 1. Long-title tests create multiple new contents pages and verify every link after insertion.

Details & limits

One PDF up to 25 MiB / 100 source pages; 300 combined bookmarks, six levels, titles up to 200 characters and up to 20 inserted pages. 64 MiB output and 60-second operations. No passwords, interactive forms, signatures or nonstandard UserUnit scales. New contents pages support the standard Latin font; unsupported glyphs block that export. Unicode bookmark-only output is supported. Embedded images: unfiltered/Flate pixels or checked JPEG, up to 8,192 px per side. Inline images, JPEG 2000, JBIG2, CCITT and unusual JPEG variants are unsupported.

Will inserted contents pages break chapter targets?

Generated targets use the original page references and are checked after reopening the export. Printed labels never set the destination. Preserved internal bookmarks retain title, hierarchy and target page; style, expanded state and within-page scroll positions are rebuilt. Unresolved or external bookmarks require explicit replacement. Scan pages need manual titles because no OCR is performed.
