A visual example
Smaller dimensions, the same proportions
Keep the aspect ratio locked when the whole picture should retain its shape.
- 1,600 × 900 pxOriginal dimensions
Start with a wide image
This example has a 16:9 aspect ratio.
- 800 × 450 pxSame 16:9 proportions
Halve the width
With proportions locked, entering 800 pixels for width gives 450 pixels for height.
Resizing changes pixel dimensions. Enlarging cannot restore detail that the source never contained.
Illustrative example. Schematic example; illustrated sizes are not a preview of your image or its file size.
How to use it
- Select an image and enter the target dimensions.
- Keep the aspect ratio enabled to avoid distortion.
- Resize and download the image.
A 1,600 × 900 image resized to a width of 800 becomes 800 × 450 with its ratio preserved.
Details & limits
One PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 10 MiB, 20 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side. Output respects the same pixel limits.
Can resizing recover missing detail?
No. Enlarging creates more pixels, not new real image detail. Browser decoding applies image orientation; export may discard metadata and colour profiles. Check the downloaded image before replacing an original.
