How to use it

  1. 1Choose a XLS file or load the matching example. Its structure is checked locally.
  2. 2The engine uses existing print settings. You can limit the exported PDF page range.
  3. 3Explicitly load the engine and create the PDF; supported formulas are recalculated locally.
  4. 4Compare dates, totals, hidden content and page breaks before downloading.

Load the real legacy XLS workbook example and inspect its three PDF pages. Compare totals, leading-zero IDs and date meaning; punctuation may differ from the XLSX version of the same sample.

Details & limits

Up to 5 files, 10 MiB each and 100 PDF pages per output. Packages: 1,500 entries, 64 MiB expanded data; bounded images and content. The explicit first start downloads about 58 MB of static software and reserves 1 GiB of shared memory plus document/browser overhead. Use a current desktop browser. No document uploads. Macros, encrypted files, embedded OLE and external data are rejected. Fonts and pagination can differ; inspect the PDF. OOXML workbooks: 20 sheets, 10,000 rows, 200 columns, 100,000 stored cells.

Will an old XLS keep every displayed value unchanged?

Not guaranteed. The local engine imports the legacy workbook and its print settings and recalculates supported formulas. Date and number formatting can differ from Excel or a later XLSX copy. Compare displayed values and page breaks, retain the XLS, and correct print settings in the source application if necessary. Macros and external data are not supported.

Review the printed result before sharing

Check the first and last page, wide tables and slides. The PDF is a separate output; keep the original file for further editing. Missing fonts and saved print areas can particularly affect the result.
